The Monterey Pass Battlefield Park & Museum is a Washington Township Park, and is accessible from 8:00 am to dusk. The portion of the battlefield owned by Rolando Woods Lions Club Park is also open from 8:00 am to dusk.
Parking is located at the Monterey Pass Battlefield Park, however, buses and larger vehicles have to park at Rolando Woods Lions Club Park located along Charmian Road.
Remember, while visiting the Monterey Pass Battlefield, leave only footprints and take only photographs. The Monterey Pass Battlefield Park is a trash free park. Please, no metal detecting as relic hunting in any Washington Township Park is prohibited.
April through November, seasonal museum hours are weekends only from 10:00 – 4:00.
From Gettysburg: Take Route 116 West through Fairfield to Route 16. Turn right onto Route 16 West and follow to Blue Ridge Summit. The Monterey Pass Battlefield Park is located on the right once you pass Happel’s Meadow.
From Route 15/Emmitsburg: Take Maryland Route 140 West. As soon as you cross into Pennsylvania, it will then become PA Route 16. Follow Rt. 16 West to Blue Ridge Summit, about five miles away.
From Thurmont, Maryland: Take Maryland Route 550 North to Cascade, Maryland, and turn right onto Hilltop Road. Hilltop Road will become Monterey Lane. Turn left onto Route 16 West. Park is one mile away.
From I-81 at the Greencastle, Pennsylvania exit: Follow Rt. 16 East toward Blue Ridge Summit. The park will be on the left when you get to the top of the mountain.
